Faneromeni Monastery<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Outside the town of Lefkada, is the Monastery of the Virgin Faneromenis <\/span>(near village Fryni), which is also the most important place of pilgrimage <\/span>on the island, with great old photos and universal built in 1634.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

The oldest <\/span>monastery on the island of Virgin Odigitrias built around 1450 with <\/span>wooden roof\u00a0 nave church and the church of St. John the Antzousi which <\/span>according to tradition, the Apostle Paul <\/span>spread Christianity, some even from the <\/span>ecclesiastical monuments to visit.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Castle of Santa Maura<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Just outside of town and just across from the floating bridge ( the <\/span>opening is about 40m. ) Is the Venetian castle of Santa Maura. The <\/span>castle is a fortification art.\u00a0<\/span>Marina at Lefkada, which is a much larger and from the most organized <\/span>in the Mediterranean.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

At the entrance of the city, next to the harbor is <\/span>the famous park of poets ( The locals call it Bosketo ), which houses the <\/span>busts of important personalities of the island ( Valaoritis Sikelianos, Lefkadio Hearn, Dimitrios Golemis, <\/span>Kleareti Dipla – Malamou ), who made history with their artistic aura and <\/span>wondrous works<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Windmills <\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In Gyra beach, near the city, there are\u00a0 four <\/span>windmills from\u00a0 twelve who were old, who <\/span>until the late 20th century grind large quantities of cereals, mainly <\/span>originating from Russia.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

Two miles south of the city there is the area of <\/span>Kalligoni, which includes the remains preserved from prehistoric city <\/span>Nirikos. The area has been declared an archaeological site.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
